Robeson Benn will be acting as Minister of Housing and Water until January.
Yesterday, Minister Benn, having been told of his additional portfolio, following Cabinet meeting on Tuesday, visited the two branches of the Housing Ministry.
Earlier in the day, Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon, was asked if anyone was nominated or appointed to the position and he avoided the question.
He, however, told the media that former Minister of Housing and Water, Harrinarine Nawbatt, has already taken up his position as Guyana’s Ambassador to Brazil, replacing Ambassador Cheryl Miles.
He added that Nawbatt has begun functioning as Ambassador to Brazil.
On Wednesday, speaker of the National Assembly, Ralph Ramkarran, announced that Nawbatt had tendered his resignation to the National Assembly and as such his seat has been declared vacant.
