Guyana Captain Travis Dowlin stroked a magnificent unbeaten 101 as his team tightened its grip on Esuan Crandon’s X1 on the penultimate day of their three-day Carib Beer practice match at the Guyana National Stadium on Wednesday.
The elegant Dowlin hit 16 fours and a six in his 125 ball innings which lasted 151 minutes to help his team from their overnight score of 148-3 to 352-8 declared at Tea.
National batsman Royston Crandon supported Dowlin with 92 from 143 balls and 183 minutes and hit 10 fours and two sixes before he was caught behind off of his brother’s bowling.
By the close, Esuan Crandon’s X1 were rocking on the ropes at 80-4 with former national under-19 left-hander Vishal Singh unbeaten on 22 and Krishna Deosarran on 12. Guyana fast bowler Brandon Bess extracted lift from a flat track to finish with 2-25.
Earlier, Hoomchand Pooran 14 to his overnight 29 while Assad Fudadin, who was unbeaten on six at the end of day one, fell for 11 as leg-spinner Davendra Bishoo, who made his first-class debut at the same venue with a five-wicket haul this year, took 5-71 with some impressive bowling in sunny conditions.
