Another man remanded for harbouring “Fine Man”

Twenty eight-year-old Daniel De Souza, of Half Mile Wismar, Linden, was remanded to prison yesterday on the charge of harbouring Rondell “Fine Man” Rawlins and members of his gang between April 22 and June 16.
According to reports, at Wismar, Linden, De Souza “relieved, comforted and harboured Rondell “Fine Man” Rawlins, Chung Boy, Otis “Mud-up” Fiffee, Chi Chi, Royland Durant and Uncle Magic.”
The court was told that between April 22 and June 16 at Wismar, Linden, De Souza harboured the above mentioned persons, whose names and photographs were published by the police, wanted for murder.
De Souza was not required to plead to the indictable offence.
The notorious gang was wanted in connection with the Bartica and Lusignan massacres, which claimed the lives of 23 persons.
Most of the dead were shot in their stomachs and were left lying in pools of blood that covered most of the floors of their modest homes. De Souza told Chief Magistrate Melissa Ogle Robinson that he was severely beaten by the police, which caused him to be urinating blood.
He said blood is also flowing from his ear.
He is expected to make his next court appearance on December 10, 2008. The matter was transferred to the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court at Linden.
