Forty-nine-year-old Gerald Lindore, of Lot 49 Sandy Babb Street, Kitty, became the country’s latest road fatality yesterday morning. The accident occurred at around 01:10 hrs in Carmichael Street, opposite Bishops High School.
Lindore and a pillion rider were reportedly on a motor cycle going east along Carmichael Street when he swerved to avoid hitting some dogs that were on the road.
He lost control of the motorcycle, resulting in him and the pillion rider being flung some distance onto the road.
Lindore received massive head injuries, and was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation, where he died while receiving medical attention. The female pillion rider received minor injuries, and was treated and sent away.
When this newspaper visited the dead man’s home yesterday, his wife, Roxanne Lindore, said that she last saw her husband at around 18:00 hrs on Saturday afternoon.
The woman said her husband had asked her to wake him up, but, “When I go to wake him, he was already up,” she recounted.
She said that he got up and prepared to leave the house, stating that he would return later in the evening; but he never did.
She said that she was informed about the accident at around 02:00hrs by ranks at the police outpost at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation.
The woman said that, on her way to the hospital, she prayed for the best, but was later confronted by her worst fears.
She described her husband as a loving individual and a dedicated father who was loved by his family. He is survived by his wife, three children and a grandson.
A post mortem examination is expected to be performed on his body today, and he will be buried later in the week, as his family awaits the arrival of overseas relatives.
