Guyana Football Federation President Colin Klass and this country’s most experienced FIFA Referee Otis James were recently appointed by the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) to officiate as Match Commissioner and Referee at the upcoming Digicel Caribbean Championships (DCC) finals set for December 3-14 in Jamaica.
A total of eight countries will compete with the top four qualifying for the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
James has been a FIFA Referee since 1999 and he will be aiming to keep Guyana’s flag flying high.
This latest appointment follows last month’s selection of Assistant Referee Nykasie Liverpool, who was chosen to officiate at the FIFA under-20 Women’s World Cup in Chile.
It clearly underscores the excellent performances that local match officials have been exhibiting in regional, hemispheric and international tournaments in recent years.
