Police have launched an investigation into the breakage at the Guyana Telephone and Telegraph Company’s 69 Brickdam office.
Reports are that when employees turned up for work yesterday they noticed that the place was in disarray. The police were immediately summoned.
It is believed that people broke into the office some time during Monday night, using one of two scaffolds erected next to the building to gain entry.
Workmen had been effecting rehabilitation works on the building, hence the presence of the scaffold.
While reports are still sketchy, this newspaper understands that a few electrical appliances, including computers, were removed from the building.
When contacted, the Company’s Public Relations Officer Ms. Allison Parker said she could not comment on what was taken from the building but promised to make the information available.
