I am writing this letter to clear my position with Mr. Klass and the GFF. I chose to remain anonymous because I am not alone.
I have been a National player for over five years and all this time I only wanted to represent my country never for the money.
I am a proud dignified Guyanese, any where I go in this world I only wanted to play for my country. I will go to war for my country in rubber slippers. Mr. Klass and the GFF is not my country, Guyana is.
Collie Hercules and J.P. Rodriguez do not speak for me. JP came to my room 2:50am and asked me to accompany him to Klass and enquire about our money.
Now I am reading in the news that Collie and JP are giving Mr. Klass an ultimatum to resign or the entire team will.
I am not part of any plan to overthrow Mr. Klass I only went down there for my MONEY. J P, my problem is bigger than Klass and the GFF, I am so crushed by the pressures of modern life in this Guyana, when you see me chasing the ball it is food I am really chasing.
Collie Hercules you were involved in the overthrowing of the UDFA (Upper Demerara Football Association) president. JP Rodriguez and Collie Hercules don’t speak for all of us.
I only went down stairs that morning for my money and that morning Mr. Klass lied to me in my face.
He lied to all of us, I really needed that money, my child mother trusted pampers and milk on a promise I will pay the debt when I go back home.
Once again I don’t need money to represent my country but the money was promised to us by Mr. Klass and he lied about it.
Looking back at the whole thing, the confrontation was incited by one of the many people who were hanging around our camp.
There was an Indian guy from England in lobby taping everything on his phone. We the players, always need the national team experience to help further our careers in the football world. This is why the foreign players will travel hours just to play for $20US a day.
Mr. Klass and the GFF is not Guyana.
Editor’s note: This letter came from the Golden Jaguars email, presumably from one of the players. Based on information Kaieteur Sport is receiving, some of the players are taking this position.
We are carrying this letter in fairness so the public can put their perception of the football situation into perspective and judge for themselves following this most recent turn of events.
