The police were called into action last night after a young woman screamed for help during a vicious attack by two men who attempted to rob her less than 20 yards from the Brickdam station.
Within minutes the law enforcement officers were on the scene. With nowhere to run, one of the accused fled and hid amongst a pile of debris in an empty plot of land.
A group of armed policemen quickly surrounded the area and persuaded the young man to surrender.
By this time a crowd had gathered and people were astonished when a youth who said he was 15 years old appeared came out in surrender.
He was arrested when the woman who was attacked positively identified him as one of two individuals who attacked her. Up to press time the police were hunting the second child criminal.
