Parliamentary Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Steve Ninvalle along with football coach Denis ‘Chow’ Hunte will travel to Paramakatoi today as the ministry’s inter-block football initiative gathers momentum.
This is the 13th area this programme is being held after similar events in BV, Buxton, Ann’s Grove, Victoria, Pouderoyen, Agricola, Mocha, Grove, Timehri, Plaisance, Mahdia and Rupununi.
Hunte will be in the area conducting a coaching clinic as the ministry forges ahead with its grass roots football programme, teaching the basics and helping improve the standard of play among youngsters in the target areas.
Sports minister Dr. Frank Anthony has said he is heartened by the work Hunte is doing in the various areas. Hunte recently concluded a similar activity at the New Opportunity Corps and following this programme, heads to Mabaruma.
He had also held coaching sessions at Mahdia, Rupununi and in Berbice.
While in Paramakatoi, PS Ninvalle will hand over jerseys and football hose to the player’s compliments of Permanent Secretary Keith Booker. Also to be presented are volleyballs, footballs and cricket gear.
Meanwhile, Ninvalle informed that on Wednesday he was in Berbice and held discussions with President of the Berbice Football Association Keith Ojeer and Hemchand Karamchand after Berbice requested their inclusion in the inter-block programme.
Additional discussions are scheduled to determine the dates for their involvement.
