Gavin Todd captured his third major tournament this season when he won the Trophy Stall of Bourda Market sponsored Diwali Golf tournament played last Tuesday at Lusignan Golf Course.
Todd playing off a 27 handicap recorded a gross score of 91 to finish with a net 67 to take the first place from a field of 32 players.
Second place was captured by Ronald Bulkan (handicap 20) who had a gross score of 85 to end with a net 65.
Monnaf Arjune playing off a 13 handicap had a gross 80 to finish with a net 67 in claiming the third position. Alfred Mentore’s gross score of 76 was the best gross recorded in the tournament.
Meanwhile, officials of the Lusignan Golf Club are fine tuning preparations for the Guyana Open championships and are likely to announce this year’s sponsors and competing players shortly.
The annual event will take place from November 15-16 at Lusignan and already several players from the United States, Canada, Suriname and Trinidad and Tobago have expressed an interest in competing.
Last year US-based Guyanese Jai Paul emerged winner of the men’s competition while Guyana’s Christine Sukhram retained her women’s title.
