Geared specifically towards countries in the OECS, the workshop, which concluded yesterday, afforded participating countries the avenue to address their main interests and concerns regarding their SPS regimes.
Titled “Managing a Sanitary and Phytosanitary (SPS) System: The Chilean Experience,” the workshop attracted experts from the Chilean Agricultural and Livestock Service, who shared their experience with their colleagues from CARICOM Member States and, in this first instance, from the OECS countries on the management of their SPS system.
Private sector representatives had the opportunity to discuss concrete cases, where they have encountered difficulties in export markets related to SPS issues. Moreover, both CARICOM and the Chilean experts shared their experiences in helping their exporters overcome similar obstacles.
