Top army officials yesterday arranged a confrontation between the Anira Street resident and the lieutenant who had allegedly threatened to bomb the woman’s home.
Police also took a statement from the woman on Sunday, and indicated that they are seeking to have the 26-year-old lieutenant charged with having a relationship with a minor.
Kaieteur News understands that the lieutenant and the teen’s mother were questioned for about two hours at Camp Ayanganna, where the officer is under house arrest.
A source said that the woman repeated her allegation that the officer had threatened to ‘blow up’ her house, and had a grenade in his hand when he entered her yard on Wednesday night.
The woman had told Kaieteur News that the lieutenant started a relationship with her daughter about a year ago.
She allowed them to occupy the bottom flat of her home, but evicted the officer after he allegedly issued threats about damaging her property.
There are reports that people had notified the family that the rank was involved in illegal activities.
After he was evicted, the army officer went to live in Sophia with his teenage girlfriend. However, the two had a dispute on Wednesday night and the teen went to her mother’s home.
The woman alleges that the lieutenant eventually turned up at her home while she was sitting on her back steps with her daughter. She said that the officer called her daughter and indicated that he wanted her to return to his home.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman told the army officials that she observed that the lieutenant had a grenade in his hand. She said that a niece also confirmed that the object was a grenade.
According to reports, after the police arrived, the lieutenant at first denied the allegation. However, on the woman’s insistence, the ranks searched the lieutenant’s car and found a grenade and more than 100 rounds of ammunition.
A top army official had told Kaieteur News that the officer should not have been in possession of the grenade and that quantity of ammunition.
And a legal official explained that, under the Defence Act, the army could try the lieutenant for any criminal offence by way of court martial.
