Milerock thump Netrockers, Bakewell Topp XX needle Winners Connection
Milerock stand at the top of the points table of the Banks DIH Coca Cola / Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport / Upper Demerara Football Association first division league following a comfortable 2-0 win over Netrockers when play continued on Wednesday night at the Mackenzie Sports Club ground.
Kevin D’Andrade, who joined Milerock from Netrockers during the August transfer window, rocked the nets in the 59th minute finally making it right after squandering about three chances.
Seven minutes later, the game was sealed Milerock’s way when Kevin Layne drilled a
Well taken shot past Netrockers goalkeeper.
The losers did not help their cause when Captain Keon Bristol received his second yellow card from referee Stanley Lancaster, after being booked a mere 8 minutes earlier.
With the win, Milerock moved to 23 points with three matches remaining.
And a penalty two minutes before time by Kevin Beaton handed Bakewell Topp XX a vital 3 points and second place in their tight clash against Winners Connection.
Winners’ Rawle ‘Boney’ Gittens troubled Topp XX’s defence during the battle but could not make it right in the attacking third.
Beaton enjoyed a good game for the Bakewell boys along with teammate Shevane Seaforth, one of his thunderbolts rocking the uprights from 30yds out in the 77th minute.
Topp XX however will not be in contention for the title as they only have one game in hand.
Matches that were scheduled for this evening were postponed to accommodate the inter schools Champion of Champions Athletics meet.
