A man who left his North West District home some two weeks ago to seek employment in the Essequibo River was found dead on a farm in Hogg Island.
Reports are that the body of 24-year-old Ivor Hernandes, called ‘Alex’, was found some time around 17:00 hours on Tuesday, last, on the farm located at Northern Hogg Island, Essequibo River.
Hernandes was employed some two weeks ago by the owner of the farm, John Lee.
On Tuesday morning, the farm owner went to make a routine check on Hernandes who occupied the farm house. However, the owner of the farm failed to locate Hernandes and filed a missing person report.
Kaieteur News was told that later that day Lee returned to the farm to make another check. It was then the discovery was made; Hernandes’s motionless body was found lying on a dam in the farm. The police were informed and the body was subsequently removed and transported to the Essequibo Funeral Parlour.
According to a source, at the time when the body was discovered, there were no visible marks of violence.
However, the police have not yet ruled out foul play as they are awaiting a post mortem examination which is expected to be done tomorrow.
