Believe it or not, in such modern times, not many clubs in the football arena can boast of having their own club house and that’s the reality of the situation.
Fruta Conquerors though, can count themselves lucky and have been vigorously working on completing their own in another three to four weeks.
This news paper a few weeks ago had carried a story when construction on the facility restarted after the foundation and a few columns were done about four years ago.
Ever since, work has been progressing at a satisfactory rate and Club President Marlan Cole said he is happy with the way things have been moving.
“We are looking forward to the completion of our building which will be of great benefit not only to the club but the community at large.
We have already air marked a number of projects that will be done at this new facility and will also involve the women folk of the community.”
UNICEF, The Guyana Mirco Project, Barama and club funds generated from the NAMILCO Football Festival have made it possible for the facility to become reality.
The Tucville ground has replaced GFC as the main facility for football in the city and the Georgetown Football Association as well as its other affiliates will benefit when the Club House is completed.
Dressing rooms as well as office space are part of the project.
Meanwhile, the quality of the lights at the ground has been enhanced with the addition of 20 more lights.
This was made possible with the kind contribution of the Guyana Beverage Incorporated.
This company, which is managed by Robert Selman, has been the official sponsor of Fruta Conquerors with its leading brand, Fruta Orange Juice for over ten years.
GBI through its parent company, S. M Jaleel of Trinidad and Tobago has been responsible for shaping and making Fruta Conquerors one of the leading clubs in Guyana and according to Selman, they will continue to contribute towards the continued development of Fruta Conquerors.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
