Sans Souci and Noitgedacht recorded victories over Good Success and Zeelandia respectively as the G.C.B. U-19 40 overs cricket competition commenced in Wakenaam last Saturday with two matches.
At Sans Souci, Good Success won the toss and asked the host to take first strike after the game was reduced to 30 overs due to early morning showers.
They made 140 all out in 24 overs. Opener Eon Osborne top scored with 46 while Aditiya Amin supported with 22 as off spinner Rashaad (3 – 18) Moin Khan (2 – 12) and Lakeram Chappell (2 – 26) did the damaged with the ball for Good Success.
In reply the visitors were bowled out for 105 in 20 overs. Medium pacer Derwin Daniels (2 – 18), Tamesh Charritar (2 – 12), Sanjay Ramnarine (2 – 14) and Osborne (2 – 16) were pick of the bowlers for Sans Souci.
And at Noitgedacht, the home team batted first and made 117, all out in 15 overs after the game was reduced to 25 overs due to rain.
Rishi Binda was their leading run getter with 33. Left arm spinner Ricardo Adams bagged 4 – 30 while Navindra Pooran and Don Murray supported with two each for Zeelandia who replied with 99 all out in 20 overs. Murray was the only batsman offering any resistance with 21.
Roopnarine Singh was Noitgedacht chief wicket taker with 4 – 20 while Ansaar Khan took 2 – 15.
