– PM reveals fatal blow was inflicted to the head
Investigators on the West Coast of Demerara have ruled out an accident as the cause of death of 59-year-old Ishwar Seecharran, called ‘Shilling’, following a post mortem examination on Wednesday last.
Kaieteur News understands that the autopsy on Seecharran’s body revealed that he died from shock and haemorrhage caused by a blow inflicted to the head.
Seecharran was found lying in front of a liquor restaurant at East Meten-Meer-Zorg at around 15:00 hours on Monday.
There was a gaping wound at the back of his head and there were suggestions that he may have been a victim of a hit and run accident, since no one close to the scene gave police any valuable information during the initial stages of the investigations.
Police are now questioning several persons to determine who inflicted the blow.
The dead man’s niece, Sherene Khan said that she has received conflicting reports of what might have happened to her uncle.
The woman told this newspaper that one report suggested that Seecharran was run over by a vehicle.
Another report is that the elderly man may have been beaten by persons.
But none of the reports seem to add up since, according to Khan, Seecharran was killed in broad daylight where many persons traverse and no one has given police any useful information.
The investigations have now taken on dimensions of a murder probe.
