Another Brazilian miner working in Guyana’s interior has lost his life, this time as a result of a vehicular accident.
Antonio Vieira Arango, 49, of Third Avenue, Bartica, perished when the all-terrain vehicle he was being transported on turned turtle at Puruni Backdam, Middle Mazaruni, at around 14:00 hours on Sunday.
Reports reaching this newspaper state that Vieira was the pillion rider on the ATV, which was driven by Brazilian miner Naldino Da Costa Souza, who also resides at Bartica. Da Costa lost control of the vehicle, which turned turtle and caused both men to receive injuries.
Public-spirited persons took them to the Bartica Hospital, where Arango was pronounced dead on arrival, while Naldino Da Costa Souza was admitted a patient.
