More than 400 participants, including officials and supporters from various communities in Region 5 are expected to converge at the Mahaicony Community Centre Ground ECD this Sunday, October 12, to attend the eagerly awaited Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport / National Sports Commission (NSC) Day of Interaction which will be held under the theme, “Sport for Healthy Lifestyle, Education and Peace.
Several sports events have been planned for the day that include softball cricket, dominoes, football, circle tennis, volleyball, chess, cycling and table tennis.
Tennis buffs can also take advantage of a special coaching clinic to be conducted by the Chinese table tennis coach, attached to the National Sports Commission (NSC), Cheng Jian Hua.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for 10:00hrs and will take the form of a march past of athletes and officials.
There will also be brief remarks by Minister of Youth and sports, Dr Frank Anthony, regional representatives, political parties, UNICEF and PAHO.
Organisers have also segregated a special area to conduct an aggressive HIV/AIDS Awareness programme. The Day of Interaction has been designated alcohol free.
