Preparations for the second round of the Digicel Caribbean Championships
(DCC) for the local Golden Jaguars will commence on Tuesday morning.
Head coach Wayne Dover and his assistant Kavin Pearce along with some other technical minds are expected to come up with the final list of local players to be called by this weekend.
Guyana will compete against host nation Trinidad and Tobago, Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts & Nevis in group H of the DCC. Two teams from this group will advance to the 8-team finals set for Jamaica in December.
Expected to make a return to competitive action for Guyana is defender John Rodrigues who had a brilliant debut but was out of competition for some time due to injury.
Kaieteur Sport understands that Rodrigues who is on his way to England for a try out and will link up with the other four English based players, Shwan Beveney, Chris Nurse and the Newton brothers, Jake and Howard before travelling to the Twin Island Republic later this month to join the full squad.
The squad, including the T&T Pro League based players will be encamped at least 10 days before they commence their quest for qualification to the finals.
Guyana will play St. Kitts and Nevis in their first match on November 5 at 17:00hrs at the Marvin Lee Stadium. Trinidad and Tobago will oppose Antigua and Barbuda in the main game.
