Defending men’s and Ladies champions Phillip Squires and Shelly
Daly-Ramdyhan are expected to headline an impressive cast that will compete in this year’s Le Meridien / Pegasus Open Tennis Championships which is scheduled to commence on October 17, at the Hotel’s Hard Courts.
According to a release from the Organisers, the tournament will feature 16 categories with the 10 and under division for newcomers being the new addition.
This new addition will see the players in that division play in the mini-court and it is expected to attract a large amount of entrants, especially those playing in competition for the first time.
The other categories include: Men’s and Ladies Open Singles; Men’s Doubles; Mixed Doubles; Men’s Over-35 Singles; Men’s Over-35 Doubles; Men’s Over-45 Singles; Men’s Over-45 Doubles; Men’s Over-55 Doubles; Boys 12 and under; Boys 14 and under; Boys 18 and under; Girls 12 and under and Girls 14 and under.
Other top players expected to participate are: Berbicans Carol Humphrey, who ended runner-up in the Ladies final, Godfrey Lowden, Ezra Sue-Ho, Girls 14 and under champion Shauna Gentle, Anthony Downes, Carlos Adams, Seanden David Longe, Peobo Lewis, Omar Persaud, Saevion David Longe, Leyland Leacock, Mark Elias, Gavin Lewis and Aruna Ramrattan.
The release also added that entries will close on Tuesday, October 14 and entry forms can be had from Co-ordinator Phillip Squires on Tele# 668-5802 or at the Hotel’s facility or Debbie Bunbury on Tele# 225-4976 and 623-7987. It was further stated that General Manager of the Hotel Bert Plas will declare open the championships.
