Headquarters and Guyana join in celebrations yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground after the announcement of the final results that revealed they both won titles.
Police Headquarters and Guyana easily claimed the Division and ‘A’ Class competitions yesterday at the Police Sports Club ground, Eve Leary to wrap up this year’s Police Track and Field Championships.
Headquarters amassed 435.5 points to win ahead of ‘A’ Division (344.5 points) and ‘B’ Division (175 points). Country Division finished fourth in the Divisional competition with a total tally of 117 points.
In the ‘A’ Class competition, Guyana completely devastated their rivals with a 249 points win leaving Trinidad and Tobago on 88 points and Barbados on 50 points. Top athletes adequately aided the host country.
Some of those athletes included Patrick King and Nadine Rodrigues, who won the male and female Youth Club champion athlete respectively.
Natasha Alder, also a national female basketball player was adjudged Champion female athlete with Samantha Williams as her runner–up. Trinidad’s Eudhenia Huggins claimed the overseas champion athlete award.
Michael Saul took the ‘B’ Class male champion athlete title while Ronald Payne also took away honours in the category. Distance campaigner, Larry Josiah got the male champion athlete in the local division.
