BK International Western Tigers continues to dominate the opposition in the
Banks Beer first division league, Black Pearl (BP) being the latest victim, falling 6-0 at Thirst Park on Wednesday evening.
Firing in doubles were Sherman David and Devon Millington who has continued to haunt the defense of all the teams the Tigers have faced to date.
Houston Stars shone in the opening game of Wednesday evening’s double header needling Northern Rangers, compliments of a 9th minute goal from the spot by their captain Leon Jarvis.
The Tigers, boasting an unblemished record so far, were surprisingly not able to get on the score sheets in the first half as Black Pearl defended very well in their own half where all the action was concentrated.
BP, were able to reach deep into the Tigers’ half on few occasions, hitting the cross bar on one of the few.
Western’s dominance was not transformed into goals at all in the first half but as it turned out, the constant hammering Black Pearl was subjected to, was enough to open the flood gates in the second half.
Within the first five minutes after the break Western went 3-0 up, Sherman David (47), Jorel Tyrell (48) and Devon Millington (50) the players on target.
This sudden barrage was effectively the knock-out punch as the Tigers scored almost at will thereafter. Millington completing his double in the 60th.
Edison Gomes added his name to the list with the goal of the match five
minutes later. He skillfully took the ball on his chest from a pass on the left side of the area and in one motion fired a powerful right foot shot that beat the keeper to the far post. Sealing the deal in the 86th minute was David.
The opening game saw Houston Stars captain Leon Jarvis tucking in the lone goal of the match in the 9th minute against Northern Rangers.
On Tuesday at the Camptown ground in Campbellville, Flamingo easily disposed of Thomas United 4-0 behind a double from Leon Hescott who converted in the 17th and 35th minute.
Timothy St. Hill opened the scoring in the 15th minute with Shem Porter adding one six minutes later.
More action is set for next week.
