The second of three persons for whom the Guyana Police Force had issued wanted bulletins has turned himself in.
Yesterday, Clayton Hutson presented himself to Criminal Investigation Department, Eve Leary.
Hutson was accompanied by his attorneys Joseph Harmon and Nigel Anthony.
A statement issued by Hutson’s lawyers stated that the businessman, who has significant investments in the hinterland, was in the interior since Thursday of last week attending to business.
According to the statement, Hutson was only made aware that there was an allegation made against him which was being investigated on Tuesday when he returned from the interior.
Meanwhile, the wanted man’s attorneys have expressed their condemnation of the recent development practised by the police by the publishing in newspapers the photograph and other biographic details of citizens even before any significant effort is made to locate them.
It has been stated that Hutson has no knowledge of the allegations leveled against him, particularly having regards to the chronology of the past police matters also published in the newspapers.
The statement further added that Mr. Hutson is confident that this attempt to link him with criminal activity will not succeed. Meanwhile, there are reports that an extradition warrant has been issued for Hutson. However, no one has been able to confirm this.
A police source, when asked about the extradition warrant, was unable to confirm but noted that an Interpol Red Notice has been posted for Hutson. This means that every port of entry has been placed on alert for Hutson.
It was the Red Alert that led to the arrest of Andrew Morgan when he entered Piarco International Airport and his subsequent extradition to the United States.
One of Hutson’s lawyers, Joseph Harmon said he heard the rumour of an extradition warrant being issued for his client but he too has not been able to confirm this.
On Tuesday, Trinidadian Joseph Aboud, for whom a wanted bulletin was also issued, turned himself in, in the company of a prominent lawyer.
Aboud, according to his lawyer, was only made aware of the wanted bulletin while he was in the interior over the weekend.
On Friday last, the Guyana Police Force issued wanted bulletins for Clayton Hutson, Trinidadian Joseph Aboud, and Frankie Ross in connection with the illegal importation of firearms and ammunition. Frankie Ross, a press release had stated, is of mixed ancestry, is 23 years old, is slim in stature, fair in complexion, and is five feet four inches tall.
Hutson is 44 years of age, is brown in complexion, has brown eyes, is five feet, five inches tall, has black hair, and has a mole on his nose between his eyes. His last known address was Lot 50 New Hope, East Bank Demerara.
Police had issued warrants in the past for both Hutson and Aboud. Hutson was also charged, then freed, for the murder of former policeman Howard Cummings, who was gunned down in South Ruimveldt some years ago.
He was also held in connection with the murder of Claudius Sam, who was slain in Albouystown.
A warrant was issued for Aboud following the disappearance of Tenisha Morgan, the girlfriend of slain gunman Rondell ‘Fine Man’ Rawlins.
