Horse Racing will return to the Anjue and Hamlet Park’s Mahaicony Race Course this weekend with a nine–race meeting.
The featured races include the C & Lower Class, the Three–year–old Class and the Two–years–old non winner Guyana and West Indian Bred and the Two-years-old Open.
The C & Lower event attracts a first prize of $250,000 while the Three and Two–year–old open races have $200,000 and the Two-year-old non-winner $150,000 as respective first place awards.
The other races include the J & K Lower Class, I Class, L Class, L Class Non Winner and G & Lower Class, which attracts first prizes of $80,000, $85,000, $75,000, $60,000 and $140,000 respectively.
A release from the organisers indicated that for the first time they will have two Two–year–old races and featuring those contests is an American–bred horse, Annie’s Play Mate.
Other top horses that will be on show at the meeting are Jumbo Joy of the Jumbo Jet Stable which is expected to feature in the Three-year-old event, Coconut Boy, Pixie Fier, Pleasure Star, Druma Boy, Big and Rich, Time Dancer, Tidal Wave, Indian Flag, Taste of Paradise, Wise Flower and Fantastic among others.
