GCC left-hander Wasim Haslim, who recently returned from playing semi-professional cricket Scotland, smashed an explosive 72 to spearhead Trophy Stall to a five-run win against Regal in fourth round action in the DCMCO 15-overs softball cricket competition last Sunday.
Regal batted first, scored 133-6 in their allotted 15 overs with R. Mohamed scoring 49 and Mark Fung 24, L. Roopnarine and Mahase Chunilall took two wickets each for Trophy Stall who replied with 136-5 with Haslim getting support from Mahendra Arjune, who made an unbeaten 34.
In the encounter between Destiny’s XI and Ariel, Ariel made 111 off their allotted 15 overs with M. Bishun scoring 76 as Ramdehol and Hansraj took three wickets each for Destiny.
In reply, Destiny XI were all out in 14.3 overs with Chris Ramnarine scoring 20, S. Deosarran 17 and Nigel. Ramdehol 15. Paul Mangar, P.Motilall and D. Persaud took three wickets each for Ariel.
In the Ariel vs DeFalcons match, Ariel got the better of their opponents after scoring 175-4 as Richard. Latiff made 59, Davendra Narine 42 and M. Bishaun 29. Bowling for DeFalcons, Rudolph Persaud and Kelvin Inniss took a wicket each
And Demerara Power Company lost to Wolf’s Warriors in the other match played. Wolf’s Warriors got the upper hand by scoring 234-5 with Danny Persaud scoring 64, Anil Jairam 60 and Asif Ahmad 54. The competition continues on Sunday with five matches.
