After an absence of close to 11 years, the police gymkhana returns to the Police Sports Club Ground, Eve Leary this Sunday.
The event will showcase the lighter aspect of several police divisions and is billed as a fun-filled day for the family, aimed at boosting the relationship between the police and the general public.
It will showcase the police’s Canine and Calvary sections. Among the activities that will be displayed are motorcycle stunts, tug-o-war, musical chairs using horses, drilling display by the Tactical Services Unit and the Felix Austin Training College and a majorette group from the East Coast of Demerara.
The famous police military band will also be on display. Other side attractions include a pistol shooting competition and pony rides.
The action commences at 10:30 hours and adults will be charged an entrance fee of $200 while children will pay $100. The last police gymkhana was held in November 1997.
