– world-renowned Qaseeda singer to grace event
The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, one of Guyana’s leading Islamic centres, will be the venue for the 5th Annual Eid Fest Program, held to observe the Eid-ul-Fitr holiday (the festival marking the end of the Holy Month of Ramadan).
This year, the program will carry an international theme, with attendance of representatives from Muslim organisations in Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago, Holland, United States of America, England and Canada.
The event, which was first observed in 2003, is hosted by The Muslim Youth League of Guyana, The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex, and the Guyana United Sadr Islamic Anjuman.
The leaders of all Muslim organizations, as well as the jamaats from across Guyana, have been invited to be a part of this unique program, which will be held on Sunday, October 12, at 9:30am at the Anna Catherina Islamic Complex on the West Coast of Demerara.
Also invited are members of Government, including President Bharrat Jagdeo, members of the opposition parties, members of the diplomatic corps, other religious and social groups, and a wide cross-section of persons from civil society. Special guest for this program is a world-renowned Qaseeda singer from Trinidad & Tobago, Jameer Hoosein, whose presence has been made possible through the cooperation between the Muslims of Guyana and those of Trinidad & Tobago.
In attendance will be a large audience. The Anna Catherina Islamic Complex’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations are said to be among the best in this country, and the actual celebration — visiting the homes of members — is considered the largest such activity, involving hundreds of Muslims.
