The battle for the 2008 Cellink Plus Premier League title is set to continue this evening at the Tucville ground with another potentially fiery double header.
Bottom of the table Uprising will match skills against home team Fruta Conquerors and are a confident bunch following a come from behind draw against the much more accomplished Pele in their last game.
While they will know that it is now way too late not to avoid relegation, Uprising will be going all out to be much more competitive in their remaining matches.
Conquerors too, will be seeking redemption after losing their last game to second place Guyana Defence Force (GDF) and will find out that Uprising are aiming for the same 3 points they are after making the contest a potentially intriguing one.
The Fruta side will be without the services of one of their consistent scorers Delon Williams who was red carded in their last game.
This evening’s main match-up promises to be another mouth watering clash between the Army and Santos. While the GDF have been blowing away their opponents with relative ease they will find that the strengthened Santos unit will go down easily.
Santos have been playing good football for long periods but have been losing games with goals being scored against them at critical periods.
Their last two games, both against defending champions Alpha United in the Cellink Plus and Carifesta competitions, they lost and will certainly be seeking to correct the mistakes made.
Next Tuesday, Alpha will face GFC with leaders Sunburst Camptown taking on Pele in a repeat of the Carifesta Festival semi-finals which went down to penalty kicks with Camptown emerging victorious. (Franklin Wilson)
