The 16-year-old pair of Andre Stoll and Ricardo Devers warmed up for this weekend’s opening CLICO Inter-
County under-17 cricket match by helping GYO to a one-wicket victory against Everest at GYO yesterday in the Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) Beharry Cup 40-overs second division cricket competition.
Devers took 3-43 with his off-spin while pacer Stoll (2-36) and Andre Durant (2-20) supported as Everest fell for 165 in 30.4 overs despite a fighting 40 from Avinash Dookie, 24 from Surendra Herilall and 22 from Demerara under-17 left-hander Dayanand Roopnarine.
The left-handed Stoll, who has been showing signs of developing into a genuine all-rounder, thumped four sixes and three fours in an entertaining 51 and along with Samuel Ward (30) and Alex Ramalho (16) contributed to the victory chase for the Woolford Avenue team.
West Indies under-15 leg-spinner and Demerara under-17 player Amir Khan had 2-17 in a losing effort for Everest and got support from Chanderpaul Hemraj (2-5) and Dookie (2-22).
