First class fast bowler Trevon Garraway has been retained as Essequibo captain for this month’s El Dorado senior Inter-County 50-overs cricket competition and will have Wicketkeeper Wayne Osbourne as his deputy.
The Essequibo selectors yesterday announced a 14-man squad and four stand-bys in a squad which includes three new faces to this level and four players from Busta Essequibo cricket champions Bartica.
Former Essequibo youth Keeper Gewan Singh is set to make his senior team debut as a batsman while Mahase Richards and Naveshaul Pooran are the other players in the squad without senior Inter-County experience.
First class pacer and Garraway’s new ball partner in the past, Rayon Thomas, has not been selected and according to the selectors he has not communicated with the Board on his availability. Experienced opener and former Captain Denesh Joseph has been retained while there is no room for national under-19 players Delon Heyliger, Royston Alkins or Royan Fredericks.
