The second edition of “Guyana Where and What” was launched on Wednesday, just in time for Carifesta X.
It is expected that this tour guide will be of great use and benefit to persons visiting Guyana.
Editor of the book, Kit Nascimento, said the pocket book contains a wealth of information.
According to him, this book will be able to indicate which restaurants to visit, where to shop, where to get a cab, which hotels to stay at, and much more.
“You’ll find just about anything you need to know as a visitor to Guyana,” Nascimento said. He also noted that when he was editing the material he learnt a lot about Guyana.
The tour guide contains information on banking, airlines, birding, Guyana’s calendar of events, travel, hotels and guest houses, recreational areas, resorts and tour operators, restaurants/fast foods, and much more.
According to Nascimento, 50,000 copies of the book will be printed, and there will be full distribution to restaurants, hotels, airports and other key locations.
This venture, he added, was financed solely through commercial advertising. Nascimento added that he is pleased that the Government is making full use of the book.
According to Nascimento, the Guyana Tourism Authority (GTA) has asked for substantial numbers of the book to distribute and to include in Carifesta packages. He pointed out that the book is vastly improved from the first edition.
The printers – Global Printing and Graphics Inc – did a fantastic job, and the quality of print is excellent, he said.
“It is a tour book that any country that is serious about tourism needs to have,” he noted.
The tour guide was produced by Gem Madhoo-Nascimento, who collected and researched all the content.
