…commences with ‘Pan-Man; Rhythms of the Palms’
The Carifesta X Film Festivals got underway last evening at the National Conference Centre with Pan-Man; Rhythms of the Palms, a film which Guyanese playwright and producer Sir Ian Valz wrote, produced and acted in.
Valz explained that the film was about a pannist who had to endure immense struggle to promote the art form in his homeland.
He noted that the struggle was realistic in the sense that, even in today’s time, the steel pan is not that much of a respected art from in a wide arena.
The film was bestowed the ‘Hollywood Black Film Festival’s Best Feature Film’ Award, as well as the ‘Brooklyn International Film Festival Award.”
Guyanese born Sir Ian Valz has been doing playwrights from a young age, and has written several plays that have featured at several venues internationally.
The event was declared open by Junior Finance Minister, Dr. Jennifer Webster.
