A Canadian seaman was shot and robbed by bandits in a car at around 14:00 hrs yesterday in Water Street.
The victim, identified as Christopher Olsen, 40, was shot in the right arm after being attacked by three men, who relieved him of a bag containing an undisclosed sum of cash, a passport, credit cards and cell phone.
Kaieteur News understands that Olsen had just disembarked from a vessel which is moored in the Demerara River when the attack occurred.
He was walking in Water Street when three men in a car shot him before driving off with his valuables.
The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation where he was admitted.
