– suspect arrested
Diligent enquiries by the Criminal Investigations Department coupled with sound intelligence gathered so far have led to the arrest of another male suspect in the February 17 massacre at Bartica. Police did not say how the suspect was arrested but stated in a press release that they also recovered two metal vaults and a brief case containing documents.
Kaieteur News understands that the items were identified as belonging to the CBR Mining Company which was robbed during the massacre. According to a source, the vaults and briefcase were found buried in the Makouria Trail, an area the killers had reportedly traversed after committing the atrocity. The source said that the operation was a covert one with only the required ranks being involved.
The arrest of the most recent suspect brings the total to three persons so far held for the killings.
It is believed that the gang responsible for the Bartica massacre in which 12 persons were killed, including three policemen, is being led by fugitive Rondell ‘Fineman’ Rawlins who continues to avoid capture.
– A few weeks ago the police had also recovered another weapon which was stolen during the brazen Bartica attack.
The only savior of Guyana.
