Guyana Beverage Inc. distributors of Guyana’s number one juice, Fruta, yesterday maintained their relationship with city club Fruta Conquerors for the 9th consecutive year by handing over new uniforms and equipment valued over $700,000.
Making the presentation himself to Vice President of the club, Andrea Ash, was Managing Director Robert Selman, who stated that he was very pleased with the discipline and performance of the club’s players and executive over the years they have been sponsoring them.
“Guyana Beverage Inc. through our parent company S.M. Jaleel of Trinidad and Tobago have the confidence in the club, if we did not I would tell you that sooner or later we would have Let go the sponsorship.
But what we look for, we look for discipline, youth and that is what we get from Fruta Conquerors.”
Selman reminded that Fruta is the number one brand in Guyana acknowledging that the Fruta Conquerors as a football team in some way has helped them to put Fruta as the number one brand on the market.
Selman congratulated the under-11 Fruta team for reaching the finals of the Courts competition, they were expected to play Sunburst Camptown last evening for championship honours in a match dubbed by K-Sport, the clash of the Juices. “Once you beat that team, there is a special incentive from the company for you.”
The Trinidad and Tobago born, Selman who has been at the helm of Guyana Beverage for 12 years expressed his delight at more company’s coming on board as sponsors of teams, taking the lead of his company.
He said that many of the companies coming on board now were doing so because the Golden Jaguars were doing well.
“To help groom the young players we were there to put forward our money and invest in the development of the team and ladies and gentlemen and executives of Fruta Conquerors, God’s willing if I’m here or not we will continue to sponsor Fruta Conquerors through our number one brand, Fruta.”
Club Secretary Lavern Fraser-Thomas expressed gratitude on behalf of the Club to Mr. Selman and Staff for the continued confidence shown in the club. She said the support is not only evident on the field but off the field as well.
“You have taken the time as a company to ensure that some of our youth were involved in a summer camp where they went for a week at camp Shiloh where they benefited by learning some of the important things they need to know.
Our club will continue to show our appreciation by continuing to be the kind of club that Fruta can be proud of as sponsors and to always be able to lead from the front.”
