Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton has refused to grant bail to Wayne Kyte, who is accused of robbery under arms.
It is alleged that on March 1, last year, while being armed with a knife, Kyte robbed Solika Kandhaya of one gold chain and two gold rings, all to the value of $62,000. He was represented by defense counsel Adrian Thompson.
Thompson, in making a bail application, told the court that his client was previously in police custody and was released on $10,000 station bail.
He added that even after he was released, Kyte was asked to report to the police station on a daily basis, which he did.
Subsequently, Thompson said his client was told to stop reporting to the police since they had already arrested someone for the robbery. He said that Kyte, 28, has a fixed place of abode at James Street, Albouystown.
However, police Prosecutor Desiree Fowler objected to bail, adding that she was not aware of what was told to the court by Thompson. She also asked that the magistrate take into consideration the seriousness and prevalence of the offence.
Kyte is expected to make his next court appearance on September 2.
