Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton has refused to grant bail to a Nigerian man who appeared before her charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.
The accused, David Cheddi John, allegedly between June 1 and June 11last, with intent to defraud, conspired with others to commit forgery.
The charge stated that between the period, John conspired with person or persons unknown to insert into his passport one Republic of Guyana Immigration Service stamp, purporting to show that he entered Guyana on June 1, and one Republic of Guyana Immigration Service stamp in a Nigerian passport, purporting to show he departed Guyana on June 11, know same to be forged.
The charge is indictable; as such, John was not required to plead. He was remanded to prison until August 25.
