Ferreira-James told Kaieteur Sport via email, that she has been assigned her first game of the Olympics, which will be Argentina verses Sweden in Tianjin. She informed, “I have Rita Munoz and Mayte Ivonne Chavez, both Mexicans and Nicole Petignat of Switzerland as my assistants.”
“It’s my 76th International game in the middle and I am very happy with my trio chosen alongside me,” she opined. The Guyanese official further disclosed, “It’s been very smoggy today (Thursday) a little humid at times, but the sun is very hot most days.”
Giving an insight into her day’s activities since arriving in China, she disclosed, “We start our day with breakfast then training sessions field or gym, mental preparation and treatment etc.”
She informed that her cousin, swimmer Niall Roberts, is representing Guyana in at the Olympics, and wished him an enjoyable and successful outing in which he could make himself and Guyana proud.
Officiating at the Olympics has been a dream come true for Ferreira-James and it’s an outing she has dedicated to the memory of her deceased father, who perished during the Bartica massacre by heavily armed bandits.
