The annual Abdulla Hamid Basketball Foundation (AHBF) Summer Programme for children will commence on Monday at the Mackenzie Sports Club (MSC) Basketball Court in the Mining Town of Linden.
Creator of the Foundation, Hamid told Kaieteur Sport yesterday that the programme is in its 18th year and will teach the more than 60 children expected about the fundamentals of the game among other techniques.
Hamid, also known as Zico, said that apart from basketball, the programme will have sessions on Peer Pressure and Crime, which Social Workers and Police Officers are expected to conduct over the three–week duration.
Hamid is coach of the Kashif and Shanghai Kings and had functioned as national coach on occasion. In his creative repertoire, national players Steve Neils Jr. and Marvin Hartman emerged from his programmes.
Anyone that would like to make a contribution toward the programme can contact Hamid on telephone number 444 – 2571.
