The victorious Guyana Schoolgirls Windball Cricket team which recently defeated their Trinidad and Tobago counterparts 5-0 in a goodwill series paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Culture, Youth & Sport Dr. Frank Anthony and Director of Sport Neil Kumar at the Ministry yesterday.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Anthony congratulated the team on their success, referring to their performances as an excellent job well done.
He urged them to continue to excel in future tournaments and reminded that if they maintain their high standard, all of Guyana will be proud of them.
Kumar in his remarks opened by showering praises on both the team and the Organisers for a job well done, while promising the National Sports Commission (NSC) support in the future.
He said that they are the future of women’s cricket here in Guyana and advised them to continue to work hard to improve their skills.
The Director also paid recognition to the outstanding work done by Al Sport & Tour Promotions, especially Sports Officer attached to the NSC Allister Munroe.
“Mr. Munroe and his team have done well in organising this highly successful tour and I have no alternative than to give them my full support in the future.”
“You all have done well and your efforts have been fully appreciated,” Kumar added.
Among the entities who contributed to success of the tournament were NSC, Ministry of Sport, Glow Hotel, Cacique Finance and Management Developers and parents of the players.
