The man is suspected to be heading a gang of pirates that wreaked havoc on the seas for a number of years.
The suspect was caught last year in Suriname, and the authorities there had kept him in custody. While in Suriname he had a number of charged slapped on him.
A source from the Guyana Police Force indicated that two detectives left Guyana via Moleson Creek on Saturday for Nieuw Nickerie to escort the prisoner.
In Guyana he also will face several charges, including armed robbery, possession of arms and ammunition, and attempted murder.
