The police are questioning several persons to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of 48-year-old Keith Josiah, who was stabbed to death on Tuesday evening.
According to a police press release, Josiah, of 220 Thomas Street, Kitty, went to the home of a man on the Railway Embankment to speak to his reputed wife who was at the man’s home.
A verbal exchange ensued between the two men and developed into an altercation during which Keith Josiah was allegedly stabbed to his chest and forehead.
Josiah, a father of four, was then rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died. The suspect has not yet been arrested.
This newspaper was reliably informed that Josiah’s reputed wife is a drug user and had gone to the suspect’s home to buy drugs.
Josiah upon missing the woman went to the drug yard to call his wife.
It was while doing so that an argument ensued with the suspected drug dealer and Josiah was fatally wounded.
According to the man’s sister, Ann, who took him to hospital, she heard Keith screaming at the gate and demanding his son. She said that she rushed outside in time to see him collapse at the gate.
A close inspection revealed that Josiah had been stabbed and had sustained a gaping chop across his forehead.
His sister told Kaieteur News that since the incident, Josiah’s reputed wife has disappeared and despite checking all the places that she frequents, she has not been found.
According to the dead man’s sister, after the incident occurred, the woman went to the house and removed several items including those belonging to Josiah and went to a daily newspaper to tell her story. She has not been seen since.
Investigations are continuing.
