East Coast and Demerara Under–15 Cricket teams recorded victories last weekend at the Guyana National Stadium at Providence when they took on a combined Trinidad and Tobago school team.
In the first game played on Saturday, East Coast survived a formidable bowling attack to register a one–wicket win after bowling out the Trinidad unit for 98 runs in 25 overs, which were 20 overs short of the allotted 45 in the match.
East Coast reached their target in 25.2 overs with one wicket in the closet; they were 99 – 9 at the end of the match. Trinidad’s S. Speewing twisted the run chase when he grabbed an impressive six wickets for 18 runs off seven overs.
Steve Ramdass and Kamesh Yadram top scored with 17 runs apiece for the locals while Brian Sattaur added 14 runs. Earlier, Komal Pooran had contributed 24 runs to the Trinidad innings.
Yadram took three wickets for 10 runs off four overs while Poorendra Jaigobin got three scalps for 17 runs off seven overs.
On Sunday, Demerara batted first and reached 193–5 off their allotted 45 overs with Vishal Nayaran hitting a swashbuckling 42 runs (four boundaries) off just 52 balls and Chris Surat and Brian Sattaur adding 32 runs each.
Trinidad managed 161 all out from 41.1 overs with Brian Christmas scoring 71. Narayan returned with the ball to pick up six wickets for 20 runs off nine overs.
