Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle has granted bail to the tune $450,000 to a mechanic who has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving.
The accused, Lakeram Ramcharitar, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court yesterday where the charge was read to him.
It is alleged that on February 24, last, on the Friendship Public Road, East Bank Demerara, he drove motor car PKK 8397 in a dangerous manner causing the death of Subrina Robinson. The 30-year-old mechanic, who lives at Lot 128 Grove Squatting Area, pleaded not guilty.
It is also alleged that on the same day of the accident he drove the same vehicle without being the holder of a driver’s licence. To that charge he pleaded not guilty.
For the causing death charge he was released on $400,000 bail and for the driving without licence charge he was granted $50,000 bail.
