A Mahaica resident, who allegedly terrorized his neighbour on Wednesday, turned himself into police at the Mahaica Police Station, yesterday.
The man, who allegedly indiscriminately discharged his licensed firearm, remained in custody up to late yesterday afternoon.
According to reports, the man’s firearm has been temporarily confiscated by police who have launched an investigation into last Tuesday’s incident.
It is alleged that on the day in question terrified neighbours were forced to hide under their beds as the man fired about seven shots from his weapon, while threatening to kill them.
Kaieteur News understands that the man accused the neighbours of interfering in his domestic affairs.
The victims told this newspaper that at about 17:30 hours on Tuesday their neighbour, Clifford Basdeo, known as Ralph, was under the influence of alcohol and began abusing them.
“When he finish cussin, he tek out he firearm and start blow off bullets in the air,” Baijnauth told Kaieteur News.
“While he shooting he saying, ‘come out alyuh so and so, leh me done with y’all,” she added.
She said that the man accused them of telling his wife about another woman in the village.
