Gem Klautky, the 13-year-old who has been missing for the past five days, was reportedly sighted in South Ruimveldt on Monday last.
This is according to her father, Colin Klautky, who told Kaieteur News yesterday that after a report was carried in Wednesday’s edition of this newspaper on the missing teen, persons called and informed him that the girl was seen in the area, two days earlier, and was overheard asking about the location of a minibus conductor, who lives in the community.
The man said that persons recalled seeing the youth on Tuesday, also in the company of a minibus conductor.
Mr. Klautky said that with this new information, it now indicates that his daughter is alive and safe. He is, however, still pleading with the youth to return home to her family and is hoping for the best.
The man said that since persons have been made aware that his only child is missing, many persons have called and sympathized with the family. Most persons, Mr. Klautky said, expressed hope and encouraged him that she would return home safe and sound.
The teen’s parents last saw their daughter Saturday afternoon at approximately 1:30 pm at the corner of Anira and Albert Streets, Queenstown, wearing a pink three quarter pants and a pink top.
Her father said that she left their Charles Street, Charlestown home on Saturday morning at around 10:10 am for choir practice, which is usually held at the Brickdam Cathedral. The practice session finishes at 12:00, but according to Mr. Klautky, his daughter did not return home right away.
He said that some of her friends told him that they went for an afternoon lime at Anira and Albert Streets, Queenstown, after which the teen boarded a route 45 minibus, telling her friends that she was heading home.
Since then, no one saw or heard from Klautky until the sighting. Her father said that he had contacted all of his relatives and friends, but they too had not seen or heard from the girl.
