Employees of Toolsie Persaud Limited (TPL) and their representatives have managed to have the company agree to a meeting to discuss various issues that sparked protest action on Wednesday last.
The protest was in retaliation to allegations that the company mistreated them and a breach of contract between the company and the National Association of Agricultural Commercial and Industrial Employees Union (NAACIE).
The employees were also protesting the relocation of staff from one department to another, NIS deductions and inadequate safety gears among others.
General Secretary of NACCIE, Kenneth Joseph, has confirmed that “workers have returned to work”.
He noted also other grievances were addressed between the union and TPL with a view of arriving at an amicable solution to the workers’ woes.
The employees were aggravated at being pressured by their managers and it was their opinion that the company was breaching the contract that was signed between the unions.
The Secretary General said that talks would continue on Monday to further address matters of the workers.
