A man from Kara Kara, Mackenzie, Linden, has been remanded to prison on the capital charge.
The 25-year-old accused, Justin Felix, called Justin Percival, made his appearance at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson-Ogle, yesterday.
It is alleged that on Sunday, July 13 at Kara Kara, Linden he murdered Paul Austin. He was not required to plead.
Felix, who lives at 394 Oronoque Drive, Retrieve, Linden, is expected to make his next court appearance on August 12.
Initial reports had stated that Felix was involved in a heated argument on July 13 over some stolen marijuana, somewhere in the vicinity of the Kara Kara Bridge, Mackenzie.
Reports are that 26-year-old Paul Austin, a mason of Accabre Street, Kara Kara, was shot by Felix. The police had said that Austin was taken to the Mackenzie Police Station where he was pronounced dead on arrival. They also say that they have since recovered a .38 revolver which is believed to have been the murder weapon.
Following the incident, the police also arrested three other men who were said to have been around when the incident occurred and have since been charged with possession of marijuana.
