DEAR EDITOR,
Please permit me on behalf of the residents of Kwakwani to extend congratulations to the Kwakwani Secondary School basketball team for once again reaching the finals of the Pepsi Schools Basketball Championship.
The Kwakwani Secondary School basketball team have demonstrated since the inception of the championship that they are a force to be reckoned with.
They were the finalist at all three of the competitions held in 2006, 2007 & 2008. This they achieved after completely dominating their opponents in the opening matches.
It is also clear by their performance that these youths are hungry to play serious basketball, since their last serious match was at the championships last year.
Now that the competitions are over and most of these highly talented youths will be out of school, what will the Linden Amateur Basketball Association (who have responsibility for basketball in Region ten) be doing to harness the talent of the youths?
Remember, Kwakwani is Region ten and the performance of our players have demonstrated that they are naturally talented with capabilities of doing Region ten and Guyana proud. Kwakwani Secondary School basketball team, all of us in Kwakwani are proud of you.
Yours faithfully,
Jocelyn Morian.
